HAVERFORD, Pa. - Women's soccer traveled to Haverford College to take on the Fords in a crucial Centennial Conference matchup. In a defensive struggle, the Green Terror scored late in the second half to pick up their seventh win of the season.
McDaniel now sits at 7-2-4, 3-1-3 CC on the season and fifth-place in the Centennial Conference.
On a rainy Saturday at Haverford College, the Fords had the first opportunity when Julia Noppenberger took a shot just outside the box, but McDaniel junior keeper
Lauren Hoolahan was in perfect position to make the save. One minute later Grace Haskell ripped a shot that was stopped again by
Hoolahan.
The McDaniel offense was only able to get two shots in the first half, both coming from midfielder
Liz LeChard that were off target.
The second half began with the Green Terror pushing deep into the Fords territory. In the 60th minute,
Allison Storm sent a shot just over the frame. Haverford came back down the field and ripped a shot, but
Hoolahan was there for her third save of the game. McDaniel came back the other way just two minutes later and
Storm connected with graduate
Kiersten Crowley who found the back of the net to break the scoreless deadlock.
The Green Terror defense held Haverford without a shot over the final 25 minutes and McDaniel went on to win 1-0.
McDaniel returns to action on Tuesday at home against Salisbury. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m.
