GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Sophomore
Jack Sears set a new program in the 8K to lead the McDaniel College men's cross country team at the Aubrey Shenk Invitational Saturday at Gettysburg College.
The Green Terror finished 12th out of 26 teams with 350 points. They finished second out of three teams from the Centennial Conference, trailing fifth-place Franklin & Marshall and finishing ahead of host Gettysburg who came in 13th.
Sears shattered the program record, running a time of 25:20.8 to place 11th. He bested the 19-year-old record of 25:36 set by Paul Hugus at the 2004 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
Senior
Tyler Richardson finished 75th with a time of 27:13.2 which moved him into ninth in program history on the course at Gettysburg College.
Junior
Anders Madsen crossed the line in 28:02.7 while freshman
Abhishek Mudireddy clocked in with a time of 28:07.9. Sophomore
Jack Reiser posted a mark of 28:17.5 to round out the the scoring for McDaniel.
Junior
Sean Irwin ran a time of 29:15.2 as all six athletes posted personal bests.
The Green Terror will now prepare for the 2023 Centennial Conference Cross Country Championships which will be hosted on the McDaniel College Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 28 beginning at 11 a.m.
