ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Freshman
Lora Scarangello made four saves as the McDaniel College field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision on the road at Muhlenberg on Saturday.
The Green Terror (2-11, 0-6 CC) were held without a shot for the first time since a 2-0 loss against Muhlenberg at home on Oct. 26, 2019.
Scarangello held the Mules scoreless through the first 15 minutes, stopping all three shots she faced in the first quarter. She kept the game scoreless until the 24th minute when Muhlenberg finally broke through on its fifth penalty corner of the game and fourth in the second quarter.
Devon Eastlack, who inserted the corner, scored her first goal of the season when finished off a loose ball inside the near post.
Eastlack would pick up an assist on the Mules' second goal just six minutes into the second half when Katie Raab scored on a blast from the wing off another corner.
Abba Diglio and Erin DiSandro each registered their eighth goal of the season midway through the fourth quarter, just four minutes apart to provide the final margin.
Maddie Schwartz did not need to make a save in her first career start to record the shutout.
Muhlenberg held a 12-0 advantage in shots and did not allow a single penalty corner while totaling nine of its own.
McDaniel returns home on Wednesday as it hosts No. 9 Johns Hopkins. Game time is at 6 p.m.
