Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Morse Connects Early in Second Half to Top Hood, 1-0

FREDERICK, Md. - The McDaniel men's soccer team traveled to Hood College in a late season non-conference matchup. In a tightly contested matchup, the Green Terror converted just after halftime to edge the Blazers.

McDaniel moves to 4-4-4, 1-4-0 CC on the 2023 season.

The Green Terror controlled possession throughout the matchup out shooting the Blazers 12-4 and holding Hood College without a shot on goal over the course of 90 minutes. Junior midfielder Brandon Morse picked up his third goal of the season off an assist from freshman Charlie Olson

The Blazers had the first chance in the 13th minute with a shot that went just wide of frame. McDaniel regrouped and started to push forward into Hood's territory. Nick Lewis and Noah Rodriguez each had chances, but could not convert. Lewis had another opportunity in the 27th minute with a shot towards the top corner, but it was saved by the Blazers keeper Nick Humphries. The Green Terror defense locked up the Hood offense the rest of the first period.

With the match still scoreless coming out of the locker room, McDaniel stepped up their aggression and moved deep into the Blazers side of the field. After earning a free kick, McDaniel played it into the right corner of the field. Freshman Charlie Olson entered the box getting around his defender, he dished it off to Morse who quickly turned and connected on a hard driven ball past the keeper to the far corner of the goal putting the Green Terror up by one.

McDaniel kept up the pressure with shots from Carver Neary and Lewis just 10 minutes later, but both were saved by the Blazers keeper. Hood struggled to maintain possession and create opportunities as Tyler Reid, Jared Edge, and Noah Rodriguez continuously cut off passing angles and causing turnovers. Hood had two shots that went wide as time expired and McDaniel came away with the 1-0 win.

McDaniel returns to action at Haverford on Saturday. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m.
