WESTMINSTER, Md. - Led by a career-high 11 points from junior
Jeong Hwang, a total of 10 players scored for the McDaniel College men's basketball team as it fell 84-58 to No. 17 Swarthmore Wednesday inside the Gill Center.
The Green Terror (5-4, 2-2 CC) were limited by 19 turnovers which led to 27 points for the Garnet who shot 48.2 percent from the floor, were 14-of-28 from three-point range and 16-of-18 from the free throw line.
Meanwhile, in posting his first career game in double digit scoring, Hwang was 4-of-6 from the floor, including 3-of-3 from three-point range and 3-of-3 from the free throw line.
Swarthmore (10-1, 4-0 CC) jumped out to a 22-point lead with 7:17 remaining in the first half, scoring 21 of its 35 points from behind the arc as the team hit seven of its first 10Â three-point attempts.
Hwang tied his career high with nine points in the half, but the Garnet led by 16, 44-28, after going 15-of-30 from the floor and 8-of-16 from three-point range.
The hot shooting continued for Swarthmore in the second as six of its 12 field goals were from behind the arc. They were also 10-of-12 from the free theow line.
In his fifth career appearance, freshman
Drew Colman scored a career-high eight points over the final 4:22, going 3-of-4 from the field with two three-pointers. Sophomore
Russell Dandridge added seven points in 10 second-half minutes off the bench while freshmen
Tyler Bramblett and
Matt Kearney each saw their first action of the season.
Freshman
Jonas Sujeta finished with 13 points and seven rebounds while junior
Charles Contee totaled six points, seven rebounds and six assists.
McDaniel travels to Muhlenberg on Saturday. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. against the Mules.
