WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Fords built a 10 point lead heading into halftime, and carried it the rest of the way against McDaniel. The Green Terror closed the gap late, but it wasn't enough falling at home 56-46.
As the first quarter began, McDaniel (6-13, 4-10 CC)Â freshman
Elaina Beckett scored two early baskets against the Fords (14-6, 11-4 CC) press. The Fords responded with pair of buckets from forward Cortlyn Morris to retake the lead. With 2:03 left in the first quarter,
Liliana Overcash came off a screen and hit a floater in the lane, but Haverford came right back down the court and scored on a layup from Kayla Robinson.Â
Freshman
Jordan McLean used a screen from
Mallory Conroy and connected on a mid-range jumper to open the second quarter for McDaniel. Just as the Green Terror started to settle in on offense, Haverford guard Ally Landau found her groove and scored eight of her game-high 27 points during a three-minute stretch in the middle of the period. The Fords had built a 15 point lead with 5:02 remaining.Â

Mallory Conroy finished at the rim for two of her 14 points to get McDaniel back into it.
Conroy also added 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Liliana Overcash connected from deep to pull within 12, then
Josey Klingenberg finished without anytime left in the half to cut the Fords lead to 10 heading into the break.
Neither team was able to get in a groove offensively in the third quarter. Haverford outscored the Green Terror 16-11 in the quarter, but both teams shot below 50% from the field.Â
With the fourth quarter underway, Ally Landau continued to attack the Green Terror defense and score near the bucket. McDaniel was able to hold her without a three-pointer on the game with pressure defense from
Josey Klingenberg and
Jessica Weinoldt. After a bucket from Landau, the Fords lead stretched to 17, but
Overcash sank another deep triple, followed by a three-pointer from
Meggie Burgess, and McDaniel was right back in it.Â
Mallory Conroy grabbed a rebound and and finished near the bucket to pull within seven points as the clocked ticked under a minute to play. Landau and Kayla Robinson converted their free-throw attempts, and McDaniel could not get any closer as the game drew to a close.
McDaniel returns to action on Wednesday at Johns Hopkins. Tip-Off is scheduled for 6 P.M.
