CARLISLE, Pa. - Dickinson used an early double-digit run to pull away from the women's basketball team early en route to a 61-47 victory at the Kline Center Thursday night.
The Green Terror (6-12, 4-9 CC) mounted a comeback in the second half, outscoring the Red Devils 23-5 in the fourth quarter.
Dickinson (11-6, 8-4 CC) jumped out to an early 12 point lead in the first quarter against McDaniel (6-12, 4-9 CC). Marion Clair led the team with 19 points as she went 3-for-4 from behind the arc. She hit back-to-back buckets to start the second quarter and expand the Devils' lead to 15 points.
The Green Terror offense could not find a rhythm and were held to 4-of-19 shooting from the floor in the opening half.Â
Freshman
Elaina Beckett led McDaniel with 14 points. She opened up the scoring in the second half with a layup before graduate studentÂ
Julia Ryan followed with a three-pointer as McDaniel tried to claw its way back into the game.
The Green Terror defense began to tighten up as well, holding the Devils to 16 points in the third quarter on 47-percent shooting.Â
McDaniel trailed 56-26 as the fourth quarter began. Senior
Mallory Conroy finished at the rim and then found sophomoreÂ
Justeen Cooley who connected from beyond the arc. With 2:45 left, Beckett scored off a pass from sophomoreÂ
Liliana Overcash to draw within 20 before the Green Terror cut it down to 14.
Conroy finished with nine points and four rebounds as 10 different players scored for McDaniel, including freshman
Emily Lockard who had four.
McDaniel returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Haverford on Rebecca L. Martin Court beginning at 4 p.m.
