FRONT ROYAL, Va. - McDaniel College men's basketball junior
Joey Reiling tied his career high with 14 points as the Green Terror led from start to finish in a 72-42 non-conference road victory at Christendom Monday.
The Green Terror (8-8) have won three of their last four and all three meetings against the Crusaders.
Reiling scored all 14 of his points in the first half as he was 5-of-6 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from three-point range. He also had 14 points with four three-pointers in as 72-59 home win against Elizabethtown on Nov. 12.
The Green Terror jumped out to a 9-2 lead, holding Christendom to just 1-of-10 shooting.
Trailing 16-8, the Crusaders (5-6) scored 10 of the next 12 points to tie the game at 18-18, but three-straight three-pointers from Reiling highlighted a 14-0 run by McDaniel as the team took a 32-18 lead with 2:16 remaining.
Freshman
Jonas Sujeta added seven points and nine rebounds while junior
Charles Contee totaled seven points, five rebounds and four assists.
The Green Terror stretched their lead to as many as 34 in the second half, holding Christendom to just 6-of-28 shooting with six blocks while out-rebounding the home team, 31-12.
All 16 players saw action for McDaniel with junior
Jahdel Darego scoring nine of his 11 points in the second. Freshman
Christian Taylor added five points and five rebounds.
Junior
David Smoot grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds while Sujeta also added 10 to go along with nine points, just missing his third double double. Contee finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Smoot also had two blocks.
The Green Terror out-rebounded Christendom, 54-24. It was the most rebounds in a game for McDaniel since it had 57 in an 84-61 victory over Villa Julie (now Stevenson) on Nov. 20, 2007.
The Crusaders' 42 points were the fewest allowed by the Green Terror since a 71-42 win over Washington College at home on Feb. 8, 2022 while the team's eight blocks were the most since it had nine versus Gettysburg on Feb. 16, 2022.
McDaniel returns home to face Dickinson on Thursday at the Gill Center. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. The Green Terror posted a 58-52 overtime victory against the Devils back on Nov. 22.
