WESTMINSTER, Md. - Led by a double double from junior
Charles Contee and a career-high 16 points from sophomore
Russell Dandridge, the McDaniel College men's basketball team posted a 65-48 victory over Washington College Wednesday.
Contee posted his second posted his second double double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds as McDaniel (7-7, 4-5 CC) held an opponent under 50 points for the first time this season.
The Green Terror led by as many as nine points in the first half as Contee totaled nine points and seven rebounds and Dandridge added nine points and four rebounds. The team scored 24 of its 33 points in the paint while shooting 60.0 percent from the floor and holding the Shoremen to just 33.3 percent.
Contee and Dandridge combined for 18 points and 11 of the team's 17 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes while going 8-of-11 from the floor.
McDaniel led 33-26 at the half before back-to-back three-pointers by Washington (2-13, 1-8 CC) cut its deficit to three with 16:55 remaining in the second, 35-32. However, led by five points each from Contee and Dandridge, the Green Terror responded with a 14-4 run to take a 13-point lead with 10:54 remaining, 49-36.
From there, McDaniel never let the lead slip below nine the rest of the way as Contee and Dandridge added seven second-half points while sophomore
Lorin Hall added six of his eight points.
Senior
Carter Truby finished with seven points and four rebounds while freshman
Jonas Sujeta added eight points and six rebounds.
McDaniel plays its next two games on the road beginning Saturday when the team travels to Ursinus. Game time is at 3 p.m.
