WESTMINSTER, Md. - In the team's first meet since Nov. 12, McDaniel College women's swimming senior
Ella Tomkins and sophomore
Amanda Thompson led the Green Terror against Salisbury Saturday at Harlow Pool.
Tomkins totaled two first-place finishes while Thompson turned in three runner-up performances as the Sea Gulls posted a 78-42 victory.
Tomkins won both butterfly events, posting a time of 1:01.51 in the 100-yard butterfly and a mark of 2:19.22 in the 200. She won the 100 fly by three seconds and the 200 fly by a lengthy 12 seconds.
Tomkins was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team along with freshman
Jane Walkinshaw, senior
Ashley Farrington and junior
Abby Cook that touched the wall third less than three seconds behind Salisbury's A team.
Thompson began her day with a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.14. Salisbury's Olivia Totaro won the event with a season-best mark of 11:16.78.
Thompson also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.06 seconds and runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley in 5:12.61.
Meanwhile, Cook had two second-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 500-yard freestyle. Her time of 1:19.09 in the 100 breast was a personal best.
McDaniel totaled eight runner-up finishes against the Sea Gulls. In addition to Thompson and Cook, Farrington came in second in the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 2:13.72 while Walkinshaw touched the wall second in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.53 seconds.
Sophomore
Tori McArthur placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:15.90. Her third-place time of 3:04.75 in the 200-yard breaststroke was also a personal best.
McDaniel returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 21 when it travels to Elizabethtown for a non-conference meet beginning at 1 p.m.
