Haverford Snaps McDaniel's Four-Game Win Streak, 49-40

HAVERFORD, Pa. - A 9-2 run midway through the fourth quarter proved to the difference as Haverford posted a 49-40 victory over the McDaniel College women's basketball team Tuesday at Gooding Arena.

The loss was the first for the Green Terror (6-6, 4-3 CC) since Nov. 29, ending the team's four-game win streak which was its longest since the start of the 2018-19 season.

The last time the team won five in-a-row was Feb. 17, 2016 when McDaniel beat Washington College on the road, 52-38, en route to a 21-7 record an appearance in the Centennial Conference championship game.

Freshman Elaina Beckett, who was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday, led the Green Terror with 13 points and seven rebounds. Senior Josey Klingenberg finished with a season-high seven points while freshman Jordan McLean had six points and five rebounds.

A three-pointer by Klingenberg pulled McDaniel within two, 38-36, with 6:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, led by seven points Ally Landau, Haverford (10-4, 7-2 CC) scored nine of the game's next 11 points to take a nine-point lead with 2:54 to play, 47-38.

Klingenberg scored on a layup in the paint with 2:36 left, but neither team would score again until Eleanor Alix sealed the win with two free throws for the second-place Fords with just 20 seconds remaining.

Landau finished with a game-high 15 points, outscoring Beckett by just two in a match-up of two of the league's top three scorers.

McDaniel returns home to face Johns Hopkins on Thursday. Tip-off from Rebecca L. Martin Court is at 6 p.m.
