WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College field hockey freshman
Dillan Williams netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season, but Muhlenberg scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory Friday night at Gill Stadium.
McDaniel (4-5, 0-3 CC) have dropped its last two games at home after starting the season 3-0.
Williams gave the Green Terror a 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game when she scored off a centering pass from junior
Emma Legacy from the right side. It was Legacy's team-leading second assist of the season.
Williams has now scored a goal in back-to-back games and in three of the last five.
The Mules (4-5, 2-1 CC) tied the game just three minutes later when Nicole Randazza scored on a blast from the top of the circle off a penalty corner. Erin DiSandro picked up the assist as part of her five-point night.
Randazza and DiSandro combined for all four of the team's goals with two each as well as nine points.
With the game tied at 1-1 entering the third quarter, Muhlenberg took advantage of three Green Terror green cards while scoring on two of its three shots in the period. DiSandro and Randazza scored just 1:16 apart to extend the Mules lead.
Despite outshooting Muhlenberg 9-2 and earning seven penalty corners in the fourth quarter, McDaniel could not find the back of the cage. Meanwhile, DiSandro netted her second goal of the game and second of the season off Katie Raab's second assist with just 1:51 to play.
Grace Leard totaled eight saves for the Mules while junior
Mikayla Smith made three for the Green Terror.
McDaniel returns to action next Wednesday, Oct. 5 when it travels to Carlisle, Pa. to take on Dickinson. Game time is at 4 p.m.
