Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Edged at No. 6 Johns Hopkins, 1-0

BALTIMORE, Md. - The McDaniel College men's soccer team limited No. 6 Johns Hopkins to just five shots on goal, but the Blue Jays scored the game's lone goal in the 21st minute to post a 1-0 victory Wednesday at Homewood Field.

The last four games between the Green Terror (6-2-1, 0-2-1 CC) and Johns Hopkins have been decided by just one goal with the last two at Homewood Field coming by the same 1-0 margin.

Johns Hopkins registered the first six shots of the game, netting the lone tally when Tyler White scored inside the left post off a pair of passes from Jonathan Cui and Diego Elias.

Despite being outshot 9-1 in the first 45 minutes, McDaniel maintained its one-goal deficit at intermission. Senior Austin Heid recorded one of his two saves in the half off a shot by Will Sangpachatanaruk in the 40th minute.

Heid added two more saves in the second, including one in the 58th minute when he tipped a free kick by Ian Whamond from 22 yards out up and over the cross bar.

The Green Terror's best chance to score came in the 70th minute when senior Noah Rodriguez, who was named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, sent a long ball into the box. Senior Lucas Teshome got a head on it from about eight yards out, but Hopkins keeper Alex Morgret stopped it for his lone save of the game.

The Blue Jays (7-0-2) remained unbeaten in nine games this season, including six at home.

McDaniel begins a three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts a Centennial Conference contest versus Swarthmore at 3 p.m. on Homecoming. The Green Terror are unbeaten in two of their last three against the Garnet at home.
