CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Led by four goals from Kat Esposito, Washington College posted a 5-1 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team on Wednesday at Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium.
The Green Terror (4-4, 0-2 CC) limited the Shorewomen to just eight shots and held a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Washington jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the contest as Esposito scored the first of her two goals in the quarter. She struck again with just over three minutes remaining to give the Shorewomen a 2-0 lead after one.
McDaniel outshot Washington 4-0 in the second quarter and had two penalty corners, but couldn't get on the board as Ava Rivera totaled two of her three saves.
The tables reversed in the third as the Shorewomen (4-4, 1-0 CC) took all three shots in the quarter, scoring on two, including the third from Esposito and the last with just six seconds remaining.
Esposito tallied her fourth goal with just under four minutes gone in the fourth before the Green Terror got on the board with 4:50 to play when freshman
Dillan Williams scored off an assist from freshman
Yeseniah Ortiz. Willams netted her team-leading third goal of the season while Ortiz picked up her team-best second assist.

Mikayla Smith finished with two saves.
McDaniel has just 48 hours before returning to action on Friday when it hosts Muhlenberg in a Centennial Conference contest at Gill Stadium beginning at 5 p.m. for Homecoming.
