THE SKINNY
McDaniel had five placewinners, including a trio of sixth-place finishes, in 10 weight classes at the 2022 NCAA Div. III Mideast Regional hosted by Elizabethtown. The Green Terror finished ninth as a team with 56.5 points.

THE LEADERS
• Alex DuFour (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills) dropped his first match at 125 to Ryan Rosenthal (TCNJ), 13-5. In the consolation bracket, he recorded a 13-2 win over Ryan Berstler (Penn College) and pinned Ithaca's Matthew Griffin late in the first period to advance to Sunday. DuFour opened Sunday's action with a 1-minute, 17-second fall of Keystone's Kenny Santiago before falling in the consolation semifinals to Ursinus' Terry Adam, 12-4. In the fifth-place match, Rosenthal got the better of DuFour again, 9-0.
• Xavier Howard (Sykesville, Md./Wheaton) needed three wins to reach Sunday at 157, opening with a 10-4 win over Brockport's Austin Reed in the prelims. In the main bracket, he fell to Ithaca's Adam Wagner in 5:43 before pinning Tommy Coll (Oswego) in 34 seconds and topping Gunner Gehr (Elizabethtown), 15-4. Howard's second day started with a 5-minute, 26-minute fall of Scranton's Dan Kosinski. Howard fell in the consolation semis 7-2 to New Jersey City's Jeff Johnson. In the fifth-place match, Shawn Marchesano (Ursinus) recorded a pin midway through the second period.
• At 197, Jaedyn Harris (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) also needed three wins to make it to Sunday. He pinned Gabriel Kennedy-Citeroni (Penn College) in the prelims before being pinned by Luca Colestock (Muhlenberg) in the opening round. In the consolation bracket, eh topped Nick Franco (Brockport) by fall in 5:17 and Kyle Hillermeier (NJCU) 7-4 to advance to the second day. Harris opened Sunday with a 6-3 win over Centenary's Keevon Berry before dropping a second match to Colestock by a 6-2 decision in the consolation semifinals. In the fifth-place match, Jason Carter (Ursinus) pinned Harris in 4:46.

FOR THE FOES
• The College of New Jersey won the 20-team regional with 153.5 points, outdistancing Ithaca by 28 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Alex LaVeck (Reisterstown, Md./McDonogh) opened his weekend at 165 with a 27-second pin of Centenary's Timothy Pawlicki before he was pinned in the quarterfinals by Brian Schneider (Elizabethtown) late in the third period. In the consolation bracket, LaVeck used a 12-3 major decision to top Tyler Brazinski (Oneonta) and advance to Sunday. LaVeck dropped a 6-3 decision to Matt Surich (TCNJ) in the first match on Sunday before winning the third-place match with a 2-minute, 40-second pin of NJCU's Matt Armamento.
• Michael Bromley (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) won his first match at 174, defeating Centenary's Haakon Mathewson, 10-3. He dropped a 5-3 decision to Cortland's Demitreus Henry in the quarterfinals before getting a 9-1 win over Victor Elias (Pitt-Bradford) in the consolation bracket to make it to Sunday. Bromley dropped both of his Sunday matches to finish eighth, falling in sudden victory to Mike Galton (Alfred) 3-1 and to Reid Colella by a 4-2 score.
• Ty Jefferson (Bowie, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) fell one win short of wrestling on Sunday, going 2-2 on Saturday. He opened his day with a 4-minute, 7-second fall over Scranton's Ethan Wilson in the prelims before falling in his first match of the main bracket, 15-8 to Alfred's Anthony Miraglia. In the consolation bracket, Jefferson topped Oneonta's Nicholas Vanderburg 7-3 before falling to Muhlenberg's Brandon Bowles by fall in 2:36.
