LATROBE, Pa. - A 9-0 run late in the second half and clutch shooting in overtime led the McDaniel College men's basketball to a 72-70 come-from-behind, non-conference road victory over Saint Vincent Friday at the Robert S. Carey Center.
The Green Terror (5-3) snapped a two-game losing streak with their second win in the last three road games.
Junior
Charles Contee led four players in double figures, totaling his first career double double with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. In the second appearance of his career, freshman
Kevin Connelly had 15 points in 36 minutes, both career highs.
Trailing 53-44 with 7:20 remaining in the second half, McDaniel used a 9-0 run to tie the game for the fourth time at 53-53. The Bearcats would go back in front by three, 61-58, with 42 seconds left before two free throws by freshman
Jonas Sujeta tied the game for the sixth time, forcing overtime tied at 62-62.
Connelly scored five of the team's 10 points in overtime while Contee added three as McDaniel was 4-of-5 from the floor while limiting Saint Vincent to just 3-of-9.
Sujeta finished with a team-high 16 points and added seven rebounds while junior
Jahdel Darego added a career-high 14 points. The last time the Green Terror had four players in double figures was Feb. 9, 2022 in a 76-66 victory over Christendom at home. Contee added 16 points against the Crusaders.
McDaniel returns home for the first time in a month on Tuesday, Jan. 4 when it hosts a Centennial Conference contest versus Swarthmore beginning at 7 p.m.
