WESTMINSTER, Md. - A three-pointer by senior
Carter Truby with 1:16 remaining proved to be the game-winner as the McDaniel College men's basketball team posted a 55-53 come-from-behind victory over Gettysburg Tuesday.
The Green Terror (4-1, 2-0 CC) improved to 3-0 at home this season.
Truby scored 11 of his team-high 14 points in the second half, including five of the team's last 11 points. His three-pointer with 1:16 to play capped a 7-0 run for McDaniel who snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Bullets.
Gettysburg (2-4, 0-2 CC) took its biggest lead of the half with 3:38 left on a driving layup by Carl Schaller. However, those would be the final points of the night for the visitors as they missed their final three shots and had two turnovers.
The Green Terror led by as many as 11 early in the second half, 33-22, following three-straight baskets by Truby, freshman
Jonas Sujeta and sophomore
Lorin Hall.
Truby was 4-of-8 from three-point range, including 3-for-5 in the second half. He just missed his first career double double as he grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. He also had nine rebounds, alongh with 11 points, in a 71-42 win over Washington College on Feb. 8, 2022.
Sujeta finished with 10 points and five rebounds while Hall added eight points. Junior
Jahdel Darego had eight of McDaniel's 15 points off the bench, finishing one shy of his career set at Wilson on Nov. 19.
The Green Terror are one of just three remaining undefeated teams in Centennial Conference play and will host Ursinus on Saturday at 3 p.m.
