WESTMINSTER, Md. - Marymount (VA) scored the game's final four points to edge out a 60-57 victory over the McDaniel College women's basketball team in the championship game of the Rebecca Martin Memorial Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.
The Green Terror (1-2) have advanced to the championship game of the tip-off tournament every year since 2011, winning the title five times.
Freshman
Elaina Beckett totaled her second-straight double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and was named to the All-Tournament Team. In two games, she averaged 14.0 points and 10.0 rebounds.
The Saints (3-0) led 54-50 with 4:35 to play before a 7-2 run, capped by a three-pointer from senior
Liliana Overcash gave McDaniel its first lead since the 8:45 mark of the second quarter. However, a layup by Chandler Eddleton and second chance put back by Terra Dzambo in the final minute allowed Marymount to escape with the victory.
A three-point attempt by Beckett at the buzzer rattled in-and-out while the Green Terror also missed two free attempts with 36 seconds remaining.
Beckett and senior
Mallory Conroy combined for 14 of the team's 17 fourth-quarter points as they outscored the Saints, 17-12. Conroy scored all 12 of her points in the second half after missing all but 1:01 of the first half with an upper body injury.
Eddleton joined Beckett on the All-Tournament Team while Symantha Shackelford was named Most Valuable Player, finishing with 18 points and six rebounds.
Senior
Josey Klingenberg totaled four points, four rebounds, a career-high 11 assists and three steals for the Green Terror who had nine players score at least three points.
McDaniel travels to York (PA) on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off against the Spartans.
