Elaina Beckett posted her first career double double to lead the Green Terror to a 60-41 victory over Hood in the Rebecca Martin Memorial Tip-Off Tournament Friday.
With the win, McDaniel (1-1) advances to Saturday's championship game where it will face Marymount (Va.) who posted a 63-41 win versus Juniata in Friday's second game.
Beckett totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead three players in double figures as senior
Mallory Conroy added 10 points and eight rebounds while junior
Katie Klein also had 10 points.
Beckett and Klein combined for seven points as the Green Terror jumped out to 7-0 lead in the first 1:33 before taking an 18-6 advantage after the first quarter.
Led by eight points each from Conroy and Klein, McDaniel had eight players score in the opening half en route to a 14-point halftime lead, 34-20.
Beckett scored eight of the team's 12 points in the fourth quarter while adding four rebounds as McDaniel led by as many as 21 with 2:37 remaining. She totaled 12 of the team's 26 second-half points as the Green Terror won their fourth game in as meetings against the Blazers since 2013.
Graduate student
Meggie Burgess had eight points and six rebounds while senior
Josey Klingenberg had five assists and just one turnover.
Led by Beckett, Conroy and Burgess, McDaniel held a 43-36 advantage in rebounds and scored 32 points in the paint.
Sunday will mark the first meeting between the Green Terror and Saints since March 12, 2004 in the third round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship when Marymount won at home, 68-64. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. following Hood and Juniata in the consolation game.
