Heid Posts Another Clean Sheet in Draw With Dickinson

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Green Terror battled the Red Devils to a scoreless draw at home.

The first half began with the Red Devils (6-5-1, 2-2-1) attacking the Green Terror (8-2-1, 1-2-1) defense. In the first seven minutes of action, Dickinson created a pair of opportunities deep in McDaniel territory. Senior goal keeper Austin Heid was in perfect position on both and made the saves. Dickinson had two more shots right after that, but neither were on frame.

12 minutes into the game, McDaniel began to find a rhythm on offense. Sophomore Brandon Morse used a quick first step to get past his defender and take a shot from outside the box, but the Red Devil keeper was able to make the save. Freshman Noah Rodriguez followed that up with a shot of his own, but it was saved as well.

After the opening barrage of shots by both teams, the defenses settled in and began to impose their will. McDaniel, led by Matt Bowes and Jared Edge kept Dickinson from beating them over the top on long passes. Tyler Reid and Noah Rodriguez consistently stepped up and cut off passing angles in the final third of the field. Dickinson took to off-target shots late, but mustered little else on offense as the first period ended.

To start the second half, Luke Mason beat his defender down the right side of the field and setup a corner kick for the Green Terror. Rodriguez took the corner, and after it was deflected out of the box Brandon Morse collected it and took a shot that went wide.

Dickinson had their best opportunity in the 78th minute when Saul Iwowo found an opening and ripped a shot towards the bottom corner of the goal. Austin Heid anticipated the shot and made another clutch save to keep the shut out alive.

As time expired, McDaniel's defense held firm and the 0-0 draw became final.

The Green Terror return to action next Saturday at Haverford. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 P.M.
