WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel took Gettysburg the distance in the third set, but the Bullets pulled it out to win in straight sets.
The Bullets (19-5, 5-4 CC) took an early 4-1 lead. They maintained that lead throughout the first set until McDaniel (2-19, 1-8 CC) started to find their offense.
Tatiana Hamilton found
Angalyn Strouse for a pair of kills, and
Allyson Burgee added another to cut into the Bullets lead. Gettysburg responded, and stretched the lead back out to six. The Green Terror scored a few more points, but Gettysburg pulled away to win the first set 25-17.
The second set was all Gettysburg from the outset. Leading 12-4, McDaniel tried to mount a comeback with kills by
Strouse,
Mackenzie Mitchell, and
Nia Roberts, but the Bullets stayed in a groove and won the second set 25-8.
McDaniel responded in the third set with an early lead. Led by
Nia Roberts and
Jayda Patterson, the Green Terror took a 6-3 lead. The Bullets rallied to pull even, then took a three-point lead.
Samantha Fadel recorded an ace along with two errors by Gettysburg to tie the set up at 12. Both teams traded points, but Gettysburg was able to make a run first and stretch the lead to four. McDaniel fought back yet again with back-to-back kills by
Mackenzie Mitchell.Â
Gettysburg retook control and pulled away late to win the third and final set 25-21.
McDaniel returns to action at home on Saturday against Franklin & Marshall for senior day. The match is scheduled for 1 P.M.
