WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel battled in all three sets, but fell to the Diplomats on senior day.
The Diplomats (16-8, 8-2 CC) took an early four-point lead in the first set. McDaniel (2-20, 1-9 CC) freshman
Mackenzie Mitchell tallied a pair of kills to keep the Green Terror close. With the Diplomats up by five, fellow freshman
Jayda Patterson connected on back-to-back kills to close the gap. From there, Franklin & Marshall went on a seven-point run and pulled away to win the first set 25-18.
The second set started out close with the Green Terror spreading around the offense with kills by
Allyson Burgee,
Abigail Cook, and
Samantha Fadel. With the score tied at 8-all, the Diplomats stretched out the lead with a small run of their own. McDaniel was able to battle back with an ace from
Kathy Taveras, and back-to-back kills from
Allyson Burgee. With the Diplomats up by one, they scored eight of the next nine points to take the second set 25-16.
Franklin & Marshall jumped out to a big lead early in the third set. Leading 17-9,
Kathy Taveras went on a four-point serving run to close the gap to three. With McDaniel trailing by three late in the set, the Diplomats pulled ahead with another run to take the third and final set 25-18.
