COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus took control early in the first set and never looked back in a 3-0 victory over McDaniel.
In the first set, Ursinus jumped out to an early 9-2 lead.
Nia Roberts converted on a pair of kills to keep McDaniel close, but the Bears kept up the pressure and eventually led 20-9 after a kill from Haley Spotts.
Angalyn Strouse ended the run when she connected on a pass from
Tatiana Hamilton for her first kill of the game.
Hamilton followed that up with a service ace.
Nia Roberts blocked the next Ursinus attack, then found an opening in the defense for another kill. McDaniel had clawed back into the set down only six, but Ursinus regained control and pulled away for the 25-15 win.
Ursinus controlled the second set from the outset and won 25-12. McDaniel responded in the third with by scoring the first four points of the match including another ace from
Tatiana Hamilton. The Bears responded with a four-point run of their own to tie it up. McDaniel came right back with kills from
Allyson Burgee and
Jayda Patterson to retake the lead.
Samantha Fadel then found an opening in the defense an tallied her first ace of the game.Â
The Bears returned the favor with another five-point run to take a 13-11 lead.
Roberts and
Strouse scored again for McDaniel, but Ursinus kept attacking and won the third set 25-15.
McDaniel returns to action on Wednesday against Gettysburg at home. The match is scheduled for 7 P.M.
