COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - McDaniel battled in all three sets, but fell to the Blue Jays on the road.
The Blue Jays (20-6) opened up the first set with a four-point run. McDaniel (2-17) clawed away at the Elizabethtown lead with kills by
Nia Roberts and
Mackenzie Mitchell. Samantha Fadel followed that up with a service ace and the Green Terror had tied it up at 9-all. Both teams traded points with Roberts adding two more kills and the set was all tied at 17. The Blue Jays responded with a run of their own, but was ended with a kill from
Mackenzie Mitchell. Elizabethtown scored the final five points of the match to win 25-21.
The Green Terror opened the second set with a balanced attack.
Abigail Cook got on the board first, followed by
Angalyn Strouse and
Allyson Burgee. With McDaniel leading 8-7
Tatiana Hamilton found
Abigail Cook with a perfect set for another kill.
Nia Roberts and
Mackenzie Mitchell scored back-to-back points and McDaniel led 12-8.
The Blue Jays traded points with McDaniel and stayed within striking distance, until they rattled off a nine-point run to take a commanding 22-16 lead.
Burgee found an opening in the defense to end the run, but Elizabethtown kept up the pressure and pulled away for the 25-17 win.
In the third set Elizabethtown picked up where they left off with a 10-1 lead. McDaniel tried to put together a few runs, but could not find a rhythm and the Blue Jays won the third and final set 25-17.
McDaniel returns to action at home on Wednesday against Gettysburg. The match begins at 7 P.M.
