• Averett won the first five bouts to take a 24-0 lead in the match. Hunter Campbell highlighted the start with a 1-minute, 13-second pin at 149. Mason Barrett (133) and Brandon Woody (141) added third-period technical falls by scores of 18-2 and 21-5, respectively. Sam Braswell (125) and Jesse Alvarado (157) bookended the opening stretch with major decisions. Braswell won 11-3 while Alvarado was a 12-4 winner on riding time.
• Alex LaVeck broke up the run with a 58-second pin at 165. Michael Bromley (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) closed the margin to 24-10 with a big third period to capture a 12-4 major decision.
• Kowan Lee sealed the match for Averett with a win in the first tiebreak period at 184, forcing a second stall warning for a point and 5-4 win. Jaedyn Harris (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) avoided a second straight overtime bout, getting a takedown with 11 seconds remaining for a 6-4 win at 197. Trent Ragland capped the match with a pin 36 seconds into the heavyweight bout.
