Third-quarter flurry provides difference in field hockey contest

THE SKINNY STORY
Two Stevenson goals 4:18 apart capped an eight-and-a-half minute flurry in which all three goals were scored of a 2-1 Mustang victory over McDaniel.

THE LEADERS
Amy Richenderfer (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) opened the scoring, getting the lone tally for the Green Terror.

FOR THE FOES
• Macy Kosanovich and Lindsay Graham connected on both goals for Stevenson.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Early in the third quarter, Tenley Pelot (Fruitland, Md./Parkside) sent a ball from the top off a penalty corner. Amy Richendefer, who inserted the ball on the corner, was waiting on the post to redirect the ball home for a 1-0 lead just 35 seconds after halftime.
• Four minutes later, Lindsay Garnish sent a ball in from the top-right wing, where Macy Kosenovich finished on the backside post to tie the game.
• Kosenovich returned the favor four minutes after that, sending a ball in from the top that Garnish finished on a scramble in front of the cage.

THE INSIDE STORY
• McDaniel finished with advantages of 9-5 in shots, including a 5-1 edge in the first half, and 6-4 in penalty corners.

NEXT UP
McDaniel returns to action at Elizabethtown on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
