WESTMINSTER, Md. - Muhlenberg scored two fourth-quarter goals less than two minutes apart to post a 3-1 victory over the McDaniel College field hockey team on Saturday inside Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (3-12, 0-8 CC) tied the game at 1-1 just 57 seconds into the fourth quarter after senior Kelsey Jennings scored her first goal of the season.
However, the Mules (6-10, 3-5 CC) regained the lead five minutes later on a penalty stroke goal by Danielle Kapsak before Haley Foster followed two minutes her later with her second goal of the season.
McDaniel held Muhlenberg to just nine shots, the third-lowest total for a Green Terror opponent this season, including just four on goal.
The first quarter saw three penalty corners taken by the Mules with their second effort leading to the first goal of the season by Danielle Kapsak with 2:22 remaining on the team's first shot of the game.
The Green Terror also had a shot on goal by junior Charley Noah, but her effort was turned away by Brenna Fitzpatrick.
The two teams combined for two shots on again in the second quarter with Jennings' attempt leading to Fitzpatrick's second save of the game.
The Mules maintained their one-goal lead through the third quarter where both teams combined for three shots.
There were eight shots in the fourth, including five by the visitors.
Senior Lora Scarangello got her 11th start this season and finished with one save one before giving way junior Teaghen Rieder for the final six-plus minutes.
McDaniel hosts its ninth and final home game of the season this Wednesday, Oct. 28 when it welcomes Dickinson to the Hill for a 6 p.m. conference contest.
