Johns Hopkins, ranked second in the latest NFHCA poll, scored twice in the first quarter to key a 7-0 win over McDaniel.

THE LEADERS
Mikayla Smith (Frederica, Del./Lake Forest) led the Green Terror with seven saves.

FOR THE FOES
• Maura Minter scored two goals to lead the Blue Jays.
• Maddie Brown-Scherer added a goal and an assist.
• Abby Birk had three assists.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Avery Seward found Maddie Brown-Scherer just 4:02 into the game for a 1-0 Johns Hopkins lead.
• The Blue Jays doubled the lead in the 13th minute on a Liz Falterer tally.
• Bryn Rolon and Megan Abate scored in the second and third quarters, respectively, to stretch the lead to 4-0 entering the final period.
• Abby Birk found Emily Amsden in the 50th minute then hit Maura Minter in the 59th minute before Minter made it two tallies in the final two minutes for the final margin.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Johns Hopkins finished with advantage of 26-1 in shots and 9-1 in penalty corners.
• Emma Purcell (Frederick, Md./Urbana) made her second defensive save of the season for McDaniel.
