THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel posted four new conference-qualifying marks in a final chance at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson.
THE LEADERS
• Rodney Lewis III (Williamsburg, Va./Warhill) won the long jump, matching his personal-best jump with a mark of 6.53 meters on his final attempt of the series. He was also second in the finals of the 55 with a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 6.78 seconds. He posted the third-fastest qualifying time with a time of 6.84 seconds in the prelims.
FOR THE FOES:
• The Green Terror placed fifth in the meet with 50 points. Dickinson won the eight-team event with 184 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Diondre Carter (Salisbury, Md./J.M. Bennett) bettered his conference-qualifying mark with a third-place showing in the 55 (6.80 seconds). He ranked second in the prelims with a time of 6.83 seconds.
• Jalen Giles (North East, Md./North East) was sixth in the 55 finals with a time of 6.96 seconds. He qualified sixth with a time of 6.86 seconds. He was also third in the long jump, hitting the CC standard with a jump of 5.80 meters.
• Sam Welcher (Clonnton, Md./Gwynn Park) was fourth in the long jump with a CC-qualifying leap of 5.71 meters. He also hit the qualifying standard in the triple jump (11.91 meters), finishing second in the event.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Jamie Mintz was ninth in the 55 (7.00 seconds) and sixth in the 200 (25.22).
• Malachi Thompson was 11th in the 55 (7.02 seconds).
• Devaughn Smith tossed a personal-best throw of 9.23 meters to place 13th in the shot put.
