THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel fired a first-round score of 294 and second-round score of 296 to finish tied for fifth at the Don Scalf Invitational hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan at Belmont Lake Golf Club.
THE LEADERS
• Ryan McGarry (North Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) finished tied fourth overall with a score of 142, posting matching rounds of one-under par 71 on both Sunday and Monday.
FOR THE FOES
• Methodist's Andre Chi won the tournament behind a round of 69 on Monday to finish five-under par for the 36 holes (139).
• Averett won the team title by two strokes over North Carolina Wesleyan. Averett fired a round of 290 on Sunday and 289 on Monday to finish with a score of 579.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Christian Garruppo (Hilton Head, S.C./Hilton Head Prep) finished 11th overall with score of 147. He carded an even-par 72 on Sunday before posting a round of 75 over the final 18.
• Chuck Csejka (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) turned in matching rounds of 74 to finish 17th overall with a score of 148.
• Adam Gibbs (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) was 36th overall with a score of 153. He opened the tournament with a round of 77 before posting a second-round score of 76.
• Kevin Keane (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) was 40th overall with a score of 156 (79-77).
• Collin MacDonald (Beverly, Mass./Beverly) played as an individual and placed 39th with a score of 155 (79-75).
THE INSIDE STORY
• Ryan McGarry's 36-hole score of 142 was a collegiate best.
