McDaniel scored twice in just 2:12 late in the fourth quarter to register a 2-1 victory over Eastern Mennonite.
THE LEADERS
• Madison Downey (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) tallied the game's first goal at the 54:44 mark. She also had a defensive save.
• Emily Farrell (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) had the assist on both goals.
• Paige Ford (Edgewater, Md./South River) made 13 saves in goal.
FOR THE FOES
• Juliana Ghally scored the Royals' lone goal.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a scoreless first 54-plus minutes, Madison Downey was able to finish a pass from Emily Farrell from the top of the circle for the game's first goal and a 1-0 lead.
• Farrell centered a pass to Emily Houska (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock), who was able to knock it past the keeper for a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.
• Juliana Ghally knocked a ball from the top-right side that deflected off the keeper and in to draw the hosts within one.
• McDaniel withstood a last flurry, including clearing a penalty corner with zeros on the clock.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Eastern Mennonite carried play throughout, finishing with a 24-7 advantage in shots and 11-4 edge in penalty corners.
