COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) finished second in the shot put to lead McDaniel at the 2018 Centennial Conference men's indoor track and field championship hosted by Ursinus on Saturday and Sunday.
Scoring:
- The Green Terror finished eighth with 36 points. Johns Hopkins won the nine-team championship with 215 points, topping Haverford by 66 points.
Precious Medals: The following athletes earned a medal at the championship:
- Billy Emerson took silver in the shot put with a throw of 15.03 meters (49-3 3/4).
- The 4x400-meter relay of Michael Gallagher (Elko, Nev./Elko), Miky Kisi (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Kai Samuels (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) and Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) took bronze with a time of 3:31.26.
- Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College) took bronze in the heptathlon with a score of 3,892.
Making a Point: The following athletes also earned points at the meet:
- Nevin Stambaugh finished fourth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.24 seconds. He qualified fourth (9.39 seconds) on Saturday.
- The 4x200-meter relay of Nevin Stambaugh (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key), Miky Kisi, Jamie Mintz (Baltimore, Md./Benjamin Franklin) and Michael Corinaldi finished sixth with a time of 1:38.09.
- Alex West (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) finished sixth in the heptathlon with 3,365 points.
- Alex Mejias (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished seventh in the heptathlon with 3,236 points.
- Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford) finished seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:58.97.
- Miky Kisi finished eighth in the 400 with a time of 53.23 seconds.
A New Standard: The following athletes hit ECAC-qualifying marks at the meet:
Multi-Talented: The following athletes competed in the heptathlon:
- Caleb White finished second in the 60 (7.43 seconds), 60 hurdles (9.20 seconds) and long jump (5.88 meters) for his top showings in the heptathlon.
- Alex West finished second in the shot put (11.06 meters).
- Alex Mejias (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished third in the shot put (10.85 meters) and 1000 (3:04.53).
Top 10 Worthy: The following athletes achieved a mark that ranks in the program's all-time top 10:
- Billy Emerson now ranks second in the shot put (15.03 meters). It was best top throw by a Green Terror athlete since 1973.
- Caleb White now ranks sixth in the 60 hurdles with his time of 9.20 seconds in the heptathlon. He is also third all-time in the heptathlon with 3,892 points.
- Alex West now ranks ninth in the 60 hurdles with his time of 10.07 seconds in the heptathlon. He now ranks fourth all-time in the heptathlon with 3,365 points.
- Alex Mejias now ranks 10th in the 60 hurdles with his time of 10.22 seconds in the heptathlon. He now ranks seventh all-time in the heptathlon with 3,2,36 points.
- The 4x400-meter relay now ranks fourth all-time (3:31.26).
