THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel won a pair of events in season-opening action at the Diplomat Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall.
THE LEADERS
• Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) won the shot put with a personal-best throw of 15.72 meters. The mark was a Centennial Conference (CC) and ECAC qualifier. It also bettered his all-time No. 2 mark in program history.
• Gavin Gibson (Newark, Del./Sanford) led the way on the track, winning the 1000 with a time of 2:36.12. The time is an ECAC qualifier.
• The 4x800-meter relay of Gibson, Miky Kisi (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), Kai Samuels (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Michael Gallagher (Elko, Nev./Elko) won with a time of 8:38.51.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Jamie Mintz (Baltimore, Md./Benjamin Franklin) placed 17th in the 60 with time of 7.36 seconds, which ranks seventh all-time. It is a conference qualifier. He also qualified in the 200, placing 42nd with a time of 24.81 seconds.
• Michael Gallagher bettered his No. 10 all-time mark in the 400, finishing sixth in the race with a CC-qualifying time of 52.75.
• James Moye (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) finished 11th in the shot put (11.96 meters) with a personal-best throw that was also a CC qualifier.
• Alex West (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) was 12th in the shot put (11.77) with a personal-best mark that was also a CC qualifier.
• Stephen Porembski (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) was 14th in the 800 with a personal best and CC-qualifying time of 2:11.29.
• Nevin Stambaugh (Taneytown, Md./Francis Scott Key) hit the CC qualifier in the 60 hurdles, finishing 10th with time of 9.45 seconds. He also qualified in the long jump, placing 19th with a jump of 5.66 meters.
• Caleb White (Glen Burnie, Md./Baltimore City College) hit the CC mark in the 60 and 200 on the track as well as the long jump. He placed 19th in the 60 (7.37 seconds) and 25th in the 200 (24.33). He was sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.03 meters.
• Patrick Smith (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) finished seventh in both the long jump (5.98 meters) and triple jump (12.42 meters). Both marks are conference qualifiers and the triple jump marks ranks 10th all-time in program history.
• Kai Samuels finished 10th in the 400 with a conference-qualifying time of 53.54 seconds.
• Miky Kisi placed 12th in the 400 with a CC-qualifying time of 54.13 seconds.
• Michael Corinaldi placed 38th in the 200 with a conference-qualifying time of 24.74 seconds.
• Zachary Stango (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) placed 43rd in the 200 with a CC-qualifying time of 24.81 seconds.
• Shaun Thompson (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg) now ranks eighth all-time in the 5,000 after placing 26th with a time of 16:57.44.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Ricardo Loyola turned in a personal-best time of 5:31.54 to finish 32nd in the mile.
• Cyrus Daroowalla posted a personal-best time of 10:54.52 to place 36th in the 3000.
• Alex West turned in a personal-best time of 26.14 seconds to finish 65th in the 200.
• West was also 25th in the long jump (4.82 meters) and 60th in the 60 (7.92 seconds).
• Nick Villareal placed 21st in the shot put (10.65 meters).
• Stephen Porembski was 28th in the mile (5:04.44).
• The 4x400-meter relay of White, Corinaldi, Stango and Stambaugh was ninth (3:40.95).
