Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – Susquehanna jumped out to a 1-0 halftime lead en route to a 3-1 win over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.
Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (1-4), netting her first of the season in the 51st minute.
Maddie Taylor scored the first two goals for the River Hawks (3-2), tallying in each half.
Taylor rebounded a shot and save for a putback goal in the 16th minute.
Directly off a corner in the 44th minute, Taylor blasted a shot from high for a 2-0 advantage.
Yore put back her own rebound at the 50:52 mark to trim the deficit to 2-1.
A penalty stroke reestablished the two-goal advantage nearly five minutes later.
Paige Ford (Edgewater, Md./South River) made six saves in the first 61 minutes while Elizabeth Collyer (Rock Hall, Md./Kent County) had four stops in the final nine minutes.
Emily DiGaetano made seven stops for the River Hawks.
Susquehanna finished with a 16-10 advantage in shots and 15-10 in penalty corners.
The Green Terror returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at No. 11 Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
