Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah built a 3-0 lead at halftime en route to a 7-2 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.
Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored for the Green Terror (1-2), breaking up the shutout in the 53rd minute.
Taylor Little led the Hornets (2-1) with a goal and an assist.
Little got the hosts on the board just 47 seconds into the game. Shenandoah carried play in the first half, finishing with a 12-1 advantage in shots, but could not find the backboard again until the final five minutes.
Kayla Alderman finished at the 30:20 mark before Maddie Lamarca scored just 26 seconds later.
Maddie Price stretched the lead to 4-0 before VanNostrand finished a solo run at the 52:47 mark.
The lead swelled to 6-1 before Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) scored her third goal of the season with three minutes to play.
Sarah Reed finished the scoring in the final minute.
The Hornets finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots for the contest.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Rhodes on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
