Yore breaks career record in victory

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel rallied from a 3-0 deficit to record a 4-3 overtime win over Frostburg in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday.

Junior Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) led the Green Terror (1-1) with a pair of goals to record her 36th and 37th collegiate tallies and break Kim Camponelli's program record of 35 career goals between 2000 and 2003.

Jacquelyn Nava led the Bobcats (0-1) with a goal and an assist.

Trailing 3-0, Yore scored on a breakaway at the 47:22 mark to break up the shutout and break the tie with Camponelli.

Just five minutes later, freshman Mary Guest (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) closed the deficit to 3-2 with her first collegiate tally.

Yore then finished a pass from Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) to draw the hosts even with just 2:06 to play in regulation.

Bach then got the game-winner on a rebound off the keeper's pads on a penalty corner in the 76th minute.

Nava staked Frostburg to 1-0 lead with the first half's lone goal at the 23:02 mark.

Molly Pickard stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 41st minute before Meghan Hughes finished a Nava fee four minutes later.

McDaniel returns to action at Shenandoah on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
