Farrell tallies first goal

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna built a 3-0 lead before holding on for a 3-2 victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.

Emily Farrell (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) scored her first collegiate goal for the Green Terror (1-4) while also adding a defensive save.

Taylor Franco led the River Hawks (3-1) with a pair of goals.

After a scoreless first half in which Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) made seven saves, Franco broke up the scoreless game, finishing from Lauren Cram at the 41:28 mark.

Just four minutes later, Franco found the backboard again before Cram scored her first goal of the season four minutes after that for a 3-0 lead.

Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) moved around the keeper and scored in the 62nd minute to make it a 3-1 game.

Farrell then finished on a penalty corner off a feed from Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) to set the final margin with 29 ticks remaining.

Susquehanna finished with a 23-15 advantage in shots, including 14-3 in the scoreless first half.

Gooding finished with nine saves.

McDaniel returns to action in the Centennial Conference opener at home against Muhlenberg on Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
