STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – McDaniel competed in three events at the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) men's indoor track and field championship on Friday and Saturday and established program records in all three events.
Individually, Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) finished 11th in the 500, posting a time of 1:06.43 to lower the previous mark by more than a second.
On Friday, the distance medley relay finished seventh in the field. The quartet of Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville), Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), Panagakos and Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) knocked nearly 11 seconds off the previous best time in program history with a mark of 10:23.49.
On Saturday, Panagakos, Heilman and Jones doubled back to join Thomas Runner (Elkridge, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) and finish eighth in the 4x800 relay. The group lowered last weekend's record time by three and a half seconds, breaking the eight-minute barrier with a time of 7:59.08.
The Green Terror opens the outdoor season at Washington and Lee on Mar. 18 and 19.
