CARLISLE, Pa. – Jim Heilman (Lutherville, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) finished third in the mile and was part of the winning 4x400-meter relay to lead McDaniel at the DuCharme Invitational hosted by Dickinson in men's indoor track and field action on Saturday.
The Green Terror finished fourth as a team, posting 42 points. Messiah won the seven-team invitational with 187 points.
Heilman turned in a Centennial Conference (CC)-qualifying time of 4:29.10 to place third in the mile before joining Alex Panagakos (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll), Colin LaPenta (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) and Thomas Runner (Elkridge, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) to win the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:39.87.
Billy Emerson (Germantown, Md./Watkins Mill) led the way in the field events, finishing second in the shot put with a toss of 13.43 meters. He debuted with the No. 6 mark in program history and led led a quartet of CC qualifiers in the event.
Brandon Creyer (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) finished fifth with a throw of 11.80 meters while Logan Kelly (Perryville, Md./Perryville) finished sixth with a toss of 11.39 meters. Kevin Rosenthal (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) rounded out the foursome in seventh place with a mark of 11.17 meters.
Daniel Johnson (Westminster, Md./South Doyle) debuted in the pole vault, clearing 3.50 meters to hit the CC standard and debut at seventh on the all-time list.
Chris Jones (Centreville, Va./Centreville) added a conference-qualifying mark in the mile, finishing 11th with a time of 4:44.05.
LaPenta finished seventh in the 400 with a CC-qualifying time of 54.78 seconds.
Aaron Ferguson (Greenbelt, Md./Wheaton) rounded out the conference qualifiers, finishing 11th in the 55 with a time of 6.97 seconds.
McDaniel returns to action at the Susquehanna Invitational on Friday.
