Bach scores in second half

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Stevenson built a 2-0 lead before defeating McDaniel 3-1 in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.

Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (3-9), rocketing home a goal off a corner in the 56th minute.

Three different players scored for the Mustangs (3-8), including Tanner Ridgely with the only goal of the first half.

In a scoreless game, Ridgely collected a loose ball in front of the cage and knocked it home for a 1-0 lead at the 23:54 mark.

Rosemarie Nevia doubled the advantage in the 41st minute. Off a restart, Sara McVey dribbled to the endline on the right side of the cage before centering a pass that Nevia was able to put into the back of the net.

Emily Farrell (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) sent a ball high to Bach at the top of the arc. The senior blasted a shot right down the middle of the field and onto the backboard to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 55:53 mark.

Ashley Meyer put home a rebound in the 58th minute to reestablish the two-goal lead.

Stevenson finished with a 12-8 edge in shots and 13-8 advantage in penalty corners.

Both Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) and Kelsey Eure made seven saves in goal for their respective teams.

The Green Terror returns to action at home against Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m.
