Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus scored twice in the game's first 7:28 en route to a 6-2 victory over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Saturday.
Meghan Sadler (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood Area) scored her first collegiate goal for the Green Terror (2-6, 1-2 CC) in the 69th minute.
Colleen Leahy led the seventh-ranked Bears (7-2, 4-1 CC) with two goals and an assist.
Leahy took a pass from Brooke Overly on the left side to stake Ursinus to a 1-0 lead just 5:40 into the game.
Fewer than two minutes later, Amber Steigerwalt blasted a shot from the top to double the lead.
Ann Kopera made it a 3-0 game off a Leahy assist in the 22nd minute.
On a corner in the 27th minute, Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) finished a Sarah Bach (Manchester, Md./Manchester Valley) pass to cut the deficit to 3-1.
Leahy pushed the advantage back to three, scoring with just 70 seconds to play in the first half.
Overly made it a one-goal, one-assist day tapping in a shot into the right side of the goal nearly five minutes into the second half.
Gemma Defoe stretched the lead to 6-1 in the 49th minute before Sadler set the final margin, tapping in a Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) pass across the box with 1:54 to play.
Ursinus finished with a 17-6 advantage in shots and 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.
McDaniel returns to action at home against No. 5 Franklin & Marshall on Monday. Game time is 7 p.m.
