Yore scores in final minute for victory

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel drew back-to-back penalty corners in the game's final 90 seconds, converting on the second one to notch a 1-0 win over Shenandoah in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.

Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) knocked home a rebound in the 70th minute to record her team-leading sixth goal of the season for the Green Terror (3-0), who start a season 3-0 for the first time since 2011.

Jenna Rampale made six saves for the Hornets (1-1), who carried play for much of the second half but were able to get off only two shots.

Off McDaniel's seventh penalty corner of the game, Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) sent the ball in from the top of the arc, where Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) collected the ball, turned and fired in to the keeper's pads.

The ball kicked to the keeper's left and Yore was waiting on the backside post to knock the rebound into a wide open right side of the cage with 42.6 seconds on the clock.

In addition to the 7-6 edge in penalty corners, the Green Terror also held a 9-6 advantage in shots.

Freshman Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen), the reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, made one save for her second collegiate shutout.

McDaniel returns to action at Bridgewater on Saturday. Game time is 2 p.m.
