Box Score LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall scored six goals in a 25-minute, 53-second span to top McDaniel 7-2 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Wednesday.
Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored in the eighth minute to stake the Green Terror (6-3, 1-2 CC) to an early 1-0 lead.
Melanie Consiglio scored twice to lead the seventh-ranked Diplomats (7-2, 3-0 CC), tallying both of her goals in a span of 2:26.
After VanNostand deflected home a pass from Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) for a 1-0 advantage just 7:17 into the game, Franklin & Marshall needed nearly 12 more minutes before evening the scoring.
Consiglio collected a pass from Sydney Cole and slid it home to even the game at the 19:00 mark.
Consiglio put the hosts on top for good off a Maria Guarisco cross from the left side.
Unassisted tallies from Sarah Powell and Guarisco made it a 4-1 game at the break.
Cole made it a 5-1 game nearly nine minutes on the other side of halftime before Guarisco found Audrey Buckman just 71 seconds later.
Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) deflected home a Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) hit from the top to make it a 6-2 game in the 57th minute.
Powell set the final margin with 1:17 to play.
Franklin & Marshall finished with advantage of 22-5 in shots and 12-3 in penalty corners.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against No. 8 Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
