LORTON, Va. – Steven Tanen (Laurel Hollow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) carded a 54-hole score of 227 to lead McDaniel at the Patriot Intercollegiate hosted by George Mason in men's golf action on Sunday and Monday.
As a team, the Green Terror posted a three-round score of 922 over the two days at the tournament that was comprised of 15 Division I teams and one Division II squad. The only Division III team in the field, McDaniel finished 17th, firing its low round of the weekend in Monday's third round with a score of 305. The Green Terror posted a round of 307 in Sunday's morning round before finishing the 36-hole day with a round of 310.
West Florida, the lone Division II team in the 17-team field, won the event with a score of 847 (279-289-279), outdistancing James Madison by 13 shots.
Tanen and Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) both turned in three rounds in the 70s for McDaniel. Tanen's low round came in the second round with a score of 74. He carded a 75 on Sunday morning and 78 on Monday to finish 49th overall.
Vance's low round was also Sunday afternoon with a round of 75 to key his 231. He posted rounds of 78 in the first and third round to finish 61st.
Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) finished 64th overall with a score of 232. Woolford posted the Green Terror's low round of the weekend with a final-round score of 72 – one over par. Woolford added rounds of 76 and 84, respectively, on Sunday.
Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) finished 85th overall with a score of 236, including a low-round score of 77 on Monday. On Sunday, he shot rounds of 78 and 81, respectively.
Tim LaSarso Jr. (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) rounded out the McDaniel competitors with a score of 243 (81-80-82) to finish 93rd.
The Green Terror concludes the fall season in his own Mason-Dixon Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.
