Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – York (Pa.) scored the final four goals of the game to rally for a 6-5 overtime victory over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action on Wednesday.
Gabrielle Yore (Olney, Md./Sherwood) scored three goals for the Green Terror (5-2), recording her fourth career hat trick.
Ali Posey converted a pair of penalty strokes for the Spartans (5-2), bookending the final run.
Trailing 5-2, York was awarded a penalty stroke that Posey converted at the 52:14 mark.
Just over nine minutes later, Lindsay Nye knocked home a centering pass that Beth Patrick collected off a rebounded save to draw the visitors within one.
Off one of 10 second-half penalty corners just over a minute later, Patrick was waiting on the post after inserting the ball to tap in a pass from the top-center of the arc by Holly Martin to draw the game even at 5-all.
Midway through the first 15-minute overtime, York once again drew a penalty stroke and Posey once again converted for the victory with 7:06 showing.
Martin started an early flurry of action, knocking home a pass from Sydney Lamarsh for a 1-0 lead just 1:05 into the game.
On a breakaway, Haley VanNostrand (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) passed ahead to Yore, who tapped it home to tie the game just 2:30 into the contest.
Shania Gelvin was able to knock home a ball off the keeper to cap the early flurry and make it a 2-1 game at the 5:32 mark.
Melissa Cohen (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) cleaned up a scrum in front of the cage in the 34th minute to even the score at the break.
On a corner, VanNostrand centered a ball to Megan Quattrone (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle Area) that she was able to finish just 2:29 into the second half.
Quattrone and Yore connected on a breakaway a minute-and-a-half later to give Yore her second tally of the game.
Yore then finished her hat trick in the 47th minute, converting a breakaway through the keeper.
York finished with a 16-14 edge in shots and 14-9 advantage in penalty corners.
Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) made eight saves for McDaniel while Eve Hauptle had seven stops in 55 minutes of action.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Bryn Mawr on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
