Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Muhlenberg scored twice in a five-minute span to defeat McDaniel 3-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action on Friday.
Sara Reynolds (York, Pa./Central York) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (5-1, 0-1 CC), who had its five-game winning streak to open the season snapped in the team's conference opener.
Taylor Smith broke a 1-all deadlock for the Mules (3-2, 2-0 CC) as one of three different goal scorers.
Smith finished a rebound in a scramble in front of the cage off a corner in the 56th minute for a 2-1 advantage.
Emily Boyle added an insurance goal 4 minutes, 17 seconds later, sliding a shot into the left side of the cage from the middle of the circle.
Stephi Rydgren staked Muhlenberg to a 1-0 lead, knocking home an Alexandria DeAngelo shot-and-save in the 19th minute.
Reynolds evened the game, tipping in a Rachel Cressman (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) pass on a penalty corner in the 45th minute, converting McDaniel's first shot of the game.
Christina Gooding (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) made eight saves on the night.
The Mules finished with a 17-2 advantage in shots and 10-5 edge in penalty corners.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against York (Pa.) on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
