PENFIELD, N.Y. – Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) carded a second-round 73 to finish with a score of 157 and lead McDaniel at the Flower City Preview in men's golf action on Saturday and Sunday.
The annual fall preview of the NCAA Div. III championship venue, the Green Terror competed with 17 of the other top teams in the country. The tournament was originally slated to be 54 holes over the two championship courses but heavy rains on Saturday forced the teams from the course on what was scheduled to be a 36-hole day. As a result, the teams finished the second round on Sunday morning and the tournament was called after 36 holes with the teams playing both rounds at Midvale Country Club.
McDaniel finished with a 36-hole score of 651 to finish 18th overall, carding rounds of 326 and 325. St. John Fisher won the event with a score of 604 (301-303), edging Methodist by four strokes.
Vance finished 43rd in the field. After a first-round score of 84, he turned in the Green Terror's lone round in the 70s, posting a one-over par 73.
Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished 67th overall with a score of 163. He turned in McDaniel's low round on Saturday morning with a round of 80 before registering a score of 83 over the second 18.
Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) finished 81st overall with a score of 167, posting a first-round score of 83 and second-round tally of 84.
Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) matched Tanen for the low round of Saturday morning before finishing the tournament with a second-round score of 88 to place 84th overall with a score of 168.
Tim LaSarso Jr. (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) matched Woolford with a final score of 168 (83-85).
The Green Terror returns to action at the Shenandoah Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
