Lawson finishes fourth in hurdles

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Claire Lawson (McMinnville, Ore./McMinnville) finished fourth in the 400 hurdles to lead McDaniel at the 2015 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III championship hosted by Springfield in women's outdoor track and field action on Thursday and Friday.

Lawson tuned in a time of 1:02.57 in the event. She still ranks 14th in Division III with her time of 1:02.23, making it likely she will earn a spot in the NCAA Division III championship when the selections are announced on Sunday. The top 22 declared athletes in each event will be accepted into the championship field.

Lawson also competed in the 100 hurdles on Thursday, finishing tied for 20th with a time of 15.52 seconds.

Lawson also joined Chloe Allen Gorman (Portland, Ore./Lincoln), Avalon McOmber (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and Kelsey Minyon (Millville, Del./Indian River) to turn in the fourth-best time in program history in the 4x800 relay. The quartet finished 18th in the event with a time of 10:00.15.

The NCAA Division III championship will be hosted by St. Lawrence on Thursday-Saturday.
