HERSHEY, Pa. – Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) posted two rounds in the 70s to lead McDaniel to an ninth-place finish at the Hershey Cup in men's golf action on Sunday and Monday.
As a team, the Green Terror carded a 36-hole total of 633 at Hershey Country Club. After posting a round of 318 on Sunday to sit tied for fifth, McDaniel improved to shoot a round of 315 but dropped to ninth place. Franklin & Marshall won the 15-team invitational with a score of 604 (300-304).
Mewhirter finished with a two-day score of 154, carding a 76 on Sunday followed by a 78 on Monday.
Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) finished one stroke behind his teammate in 22nd place. Vance posted a first-round score of 83 before carding a one-over par 72 on Monday.
Dominic Seelig (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) finished 45th with a two-round score of 162. The senior posted a round of 78 over the first 18 holes before carding an 84 in the second round.
Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md.) finished 49th overall with a score of 163, registering a score of 82 on Sunday and 81 on Monday.
Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) finished 59th in the field with a score of 167 (82-85).
The Green Terror returns to action at the Glenmaura National Collegiate Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
