WILMINGTON, Del. – Steven Tanen (Laurel Hallow, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) registered a 54-hole score of 225 to finish fourth overall and lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) men's golf championship hosted at DuPont Country Club on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Green Terror fired its lowest 18- and 54-hole score in championship history, finishing the weekend with a score of 912. McDaniel broke 300 for the first time in a CC championship, carding a round of 299 on Saturday before finishing with a round of 292 on Sunday. The Green Terror opened the tournament with a round of 321 in windy conditions on Friday.
Franklin & Marshall shattered the conference championship record, lowering its 2014 score by 17 strokes and carding a 54-hole score of 882 to win the title by 30 shots. The Diplomats fired a 304 on Friday before posting rounds of 291 and 287 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, to win its ninth tournament of the year and earn the CC's automatic bid to the NCAA championship.
Tanen posted 78 or better in all three rounds to earn his first All-CC honor. He registered a score of 78 on Friday before carding a round of 73 on Saturday and rounding out the weekend with a round of 74 on Sunday.
Brian Norwitz (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and Mason Woolford (Pasadena, Md.) turned in the Green Terror's best rounds of the weekend, firing one-over par 72 on Sunday.
Norwitz finished seventh overall with a score of 228. He opened the weekend with a round of 81 before carding a 75 on Saturday.
Woolford matched Cody Mewhirter (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) with a 10th-place finish and 54-hole score of 230. Woolford fired an 82 on Friday and 76 on Saturday before finishing with the 72.
Mewhirter matched Norwitz over the first two days (81-75) before carding a 74 on Sunday.
Brandon Vance (Worcester, Pa./Methacton) finished 18th overall with a score of 237 (81-81-75).
